Wednesday, May 31. 2006Podcasting Liberally - May 30th, 2006I could have ranted all night about Seattle school closings, but my fellow panelists threatened to bound and gag me. And so we invited 43rd Legislative District candidate Lynne Dodson onto the podcast to act as a kind of informal stopwatch on the subject. Lynne, a teacher herself, graciously gave us 15 minutes of her time, and I wasted most of it ranting. In an informative and entertaining manner, of course. Joining me (Goldy) and Lynne in our weekly, liquored up lecture series were Mollie, Will, Carl, Lee and eventually, Gavin. Topics of discussion included school closures, immigration, Bush's base betrayal, Will's obsession with escalator etiquette, why Republicans aren't funny, US atrocities in Iraq, and the WA State GOP's proposal to reinstitute slavery. And of course, we reminded everybody to go see "An Inconvenient Truth" this weekend. The show is 1:00:49, and is available here as a 38.8 MB MP3. [Recorded live at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. Special thanks to Confab creators Gavin and Richard for producing the show.]

Thursday, May 25. 2006Podcasting Liberally - May 23rd, 2006If you want to hear Mollie and me bitch about school closings, tune on in! If want to hear me yell at Will because he doesn't recognize the charter school and voucher movement as an integral part of the religious right's conspiracy to turn this nation into a Christian theocracy... this is the podcast for you! Joining me (Goldy), Mollie and Will in our phlegmatic efforts to get the CAC out of our throats were infamous potty-mouth Sandeep Kaushik, 45th Legislative District candidate Roger Goodman, and the mysterious "N". Topics of discussion included school closures, charter schools, school closures, vouchers, school closures and school closures. Oh yeah, we also talked about planning for global warming, providing health insurance to all our children, Russ Feingold's visit to Seattle, vote-by-mail, and... school closings. The show is 1:03:52, and is available here as a 41.1 MB MP3. [Recorded live at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. Special thanks to Confab creators Gavin and Richard for producing the show. Except for Gavin, who wasn't there this week.]

Wednesday, May 17. 2006Podcasting Liberally - May 16th, 2006It was a special, bipartisan edition of Drinking Liberally last night, as we welcomed King County Journal reporter and self-described righty Don Ward to the podcast. Don comments as "Reporterward" (get it?) on HorsesAss.org and (un)Sound Politics, and happily reports that none of us liberals smell. Well... except for Will. Joining me (Goldy), Don and Will in our weekly game of "Left, Right and Joel" were Mollie, Carl, and Seattle P-I columnist Joel Connelly, who has lost his designation as a "special guest" by pretty much becoming a regular. Topics of discussion included Bush's plan to demilitarize our borders by sending troops there, what's the matter with Spokane, vote-by-mail, and the blog wars. The show is 58:20, and is available here as a 36.7 MB MP3. [Recorded live at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. Special thanks to Confab creators Gavin and Richard for producing the show.] Wednesday, May 10. 2006Podcasting Liberally - May 9th, 2006Wow. Things got a little wild at Drinking Liberally last night. Dave Neiwert -- perhaps the nation's leading authority on right-wing extremists -- actually lost his virginity. Of course, I'm talking about his Podcasting Liberally virginity, as Dave joined me (Goldy), Will, Mollie, Carl, and Lynn for our usual mix of inside politics, witty banter, and The show is 56:23, and is available here as a 36.2 MB MP3. [Recorded live at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. Special thanks to Confab creators Gavin and Richard for producing the show.] Wednesday, May 3. 2006Podcasting Liberally - May 2nd, 2006I arrived late to the podcast last night so Will seized the hosting reigns and Gavin warmed my seat until my arrival. (I'd make some joke about Gavin's hot ass, but people might take it the wrong way.) Joining Will and me (Goldy) in our weekly, carbon-neutral debate was Mollie, Carl, Nick, Lee... and a little bit of Gavin. Topic's of discussion included gun control, Mike McGavick: foreign policy genius, the GOP's stupid, pathetic, pandering $100 gas tax credit, and my trip to the movies last night to see an advance screening of An Inconvenient Truth. The show is 55:37, and is available here as a 36.2 MB MP3. [Recorded live at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. Special thanks to Confab creators Gavin and Richard for producing the show.]
