Will Kelley-Kamp hosts herds cats during this week's show while David Goldstein (Goldy) is off digging up more poop for www.horsesass.org and his new radio show (News Radio 710-KIRO, every Sunday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM). Mollie Bradley-Martin contributes repetitious expletives, and exceeds her three-drink limit. Gavin Shearer and Carl Ballard throw punches argue over the merits of traditionally liberal organizations endorsing Republican candidates. Nick Beaudrot attempts to inject some quantitative sanity, but can't really get a word in edgewise. Basically, it was a typical Podcasting Liberally. Fun was had by all.

To help make up for the missing show from this week’s Drinking Liberally, Mollie and Will joined me (Richard) late Wednesday night for an impromptu, supplementary recording of the weekly Podcasting Liberally. Goldy and the other regular guest were there in spirit only due to other commitments. We spent the better part of 30 minutes discussing the absurdity in the Washington State Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision, today, upholding the ban on gay and lesbian marriage. The remainder of the show was spent on Seattle’s vagrancy problem.

The show recorded on July 25th, 2006 included an audio artifact introduced into the recording after the first five minutes. The audio artifact increased in its annoyance until listening to the show was unbearable. We have since identified the source of the problem, but sacrificed a whole show in the process. I offer my apologies to everyone that has lost the opportunity to hear this episode of Podcasting Liberally.

Oh, what happens when Goldy is away. The older crowd gets the reins. Lynn gathered together a gang of political and social activists from the Vietnam War era who are still active locally and we talked about activism then and now and how activism gets transmitted across the generations. Joining Lynn were Don Hopps of The Institute for Washington's Future, Alice Woldt of the Washington Association of Churches, Michael Hood of the blog, Blatherwatch, and Howie Martin of the blog, Howie in Seattle. We discussed the demise of political parties, the impact of right-wing consolidation of the media, the impact of the blogs and much more.
